At long last, we have arrived, both in Medford and on the blogosphere! And after much ado and much unpacking, we are settling into our new home and beginning to breathe a big sigh of relief.
Here's a picture of our house - you may notice that the picture looks like one big retaining wall and driveway with a house in the far distance. This isn't an entirely inaccurate view of our house - it really is a big old retaining wall and a very steep driveway - but my height (or lack thereof) presented an obstacle in trying to get a shot above the wall. I thought about standing on the car, but then wondered how I would get my pregnant self up there.
Here it is up close, no wall.
The kids just love it, bless their hearts. Eve walked around the first few days, lovingly stroking the gold lightswitch plates and the shell-shaped sinks and the textured walls, saying, "We live in a palace!" And they adore the spacious if weed-overrun backyard. And they love their room, complete with the pink they chose for the walls and the bunkbed they picked out. We love our palace, too - maybe not the sinks, but we love it anyway.I'll try to use the next few posts or so to update on what we've been up to since we left Maryland on January 24 and seemingly dropped off the face of the planet (it turns out we were just in Medford.) I have photos of birthdays, first days of new school, holidays, outings and a stockpile of stories about furnished apartments, crooked sellers, and Food 4 Less (they have one here!) In the meantime, we are settling in to our life as Oregonians.
